[Solved] File .~lock.(file name).ODT# created in folder

Post by yumaprisoner »

I used Open Office for years on Windows 10. I recently loaded it onto Windows 11 on a new laptop. When I save a document file I get an additional 1 KB item also saved as a separate saved file. I probably clicked on something when loading program but have not been able to locate any help to reverse whatever I may have done. How might I prevent this extra added item from being added in addition to every saved document?
The extra saved item/file looks like this:
NAME TYPE
.~lock.(file name.ODT#) ODT#file

Many thanks
Al

This is a housekeeping file which OpenOffice generates to prevent multiple users or accesses changing the file - it limits changes to the first user. If you don't want to see these lock files, turn off "viewing of hidden files" for that folder.

Should also add that once you save a document and then close the OpenOffice/document window then the 'lock file' for that document should be automatically deleted by OpenOffice (as it no longer needs the file).
LibreOffice (Still) 24.2.7.2 (x64) installed to Windows 11 Pro.

For Java I use Adoptium Temurin JRE LTS Releases.
