[Solved] Why is new 4.1.11 version number lower than my 6.1?
just down loaded new 4.1.11. previous was 6.1. what is the difference please ? Why is the old one a higher number than the new one ?

There are two different products. OpenOffice just released version 4.1.11. LibreOffice is on version 7.something. Your version 6.1 was LibreOffice. OpenOffice is only doing minor updates these days while LibreOffice is under more active development.
