[Solved] Text being changed during random events

Post by brody »

Hi:
Using OpenOffice 4.1.11. on Windows 10 HOME Version 21H1 Build 19043.1288

I have tried to debug this by changing hardware acceleration and anti-aliasing, and nothing seems to help.

I've attached a bunch of screen snapshots showing you what's happening. IMAGES are in backwards order. Look at #3, then #2, then #1. SOrry about that.

Basically, a bunch of text will suddenly change font, size, bold, etc. This changes DO EXPORT INTO A PDF in screwed up mode.

I have others pix but can't add the files due to limit of 3. But basically, the text will flow outside the margins and if I scroll off the page and back, it will reformat to NOT flow past the margins.

Sometimes I'll do a scroll up and down and it'll screw up other lines, making them look squished, spaced weirdly, etc. Sometimes doing the BOLD fix also causes following lines to get goofy.

Anyhow, that's what I'm experiencing. My document is about 84 pages long if that matters.

I can't post this particular document, as it's a copyrighted document, and I'm able to fiddle around until the entire document looks good, but this is highly annoying.

The "normal" font is CLASSICAL GARAMOND, the "goofy" font says the EXACT SAME THING, ie: CLASSICAL GARAMOND font size 14.

#2 So to try to fix the problem I double click on one of the words. As you can see, the selection extends PAST the word.

If you turn on the menu item View -> Nonprinting Characters, do you see the ends of paragraphs marked with ¶ or with some other character?

Are you sure that Classical Garamond is installed on your system?
If so, is it an "OpenType" font? https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=16032

Solution: LibreOffice supports OpenType fonts and a lot more stuff that will never be supported by OpenOffice.

I am aware that there's some font issues, so I'm currently changing to a font that I'm sure exists.

I'll see if it helps.

Ok. The font exists. But it is a font I downloaded, so I've switched to one of the delivered fonts, and things seem much better. It's hard to tell, since it occurs randomly, but for now....I think I'll say it's SOLVED.
