Hi,

New to OO, have been working on an electrical test sheet file for a few days, lots of tables and numbers. Template was purchased on ebay as part of a package of test sheets.

File has been working and I've been regularly saving but now when i try to open it the whole program crashes.

I've tried repairing the install, reinstalling rebooting but no joy.

Other OO files open fine and the problem file opens in Word but the formatting is all off.

Can you upload the file to the forum? To do that, click Post Reply and look for the Attachments tab just below the box where you type a response. If the file is larger than 128kB, could you post it on a publicly accessible drive?

It's a commercial confidential document so it'd rather not publish it publicly, I'll try to DM it to you if that's ok?

What is the file format?
If doc/docx, better use MS Office.
LibreOffice has a better compatibility with MS Office file formats. But for complex documents, it still may to have some troubles.
That's the vendor lock-in policy.

You are well advised to try it in LibreOffice. There are several good reasons for switching from OpenOffice to LibreOffice anyway, some of which are given here: [Tutorial] Considering a Switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice? Some Useful Information

I got the file via PM and it opens with no problem. I sent a resaved copy back to the OP.

That suggests that the OP might have a bad OO User Profile, particularly if the resaved version still crashes.

The file is currently open and seems to be stable. My original version still crashes the program so no idea what's goin on there. Thanks again!
