[Dropped] Assign value to cell from another cell

I have the same issue. I have data that needs additional data from a master list to be complete, and then I want the result in a column with no gaps. The original data itself will have cells that I don't want. There may be multiple ways to do this but I chose to lookup each item in the master list in the data and so the cells I want with the additional data from the master list will be scattered on a column as long as the entire master list. To get what I want I need to copy the column values to another sheet and then do a dummy standard filter, copying the result to new columns. I then have a column of data with no gaps representing only valid cells from the original data.

What I would like to do is have the scattered result of matching the original data with the master list automatically copied without gaps to a new list. This would eliminate the rather technical operation of copying somewhere else, applying a dummy standard filter, and copying the result. I could have a "change" column that copies a value to the result list whenever scattered data changes.

I can't wrap my head around how this would work, but it would be nice.

Can you upload a small example file? It sounds like you could do what you want by filtering the original data and sending the result to another location. However, I may not be understanding the layout of your data.
