I'm so badly upset about it that I felt compelled to create an account here, just to complain.
Why can't we still scroll through slides in Impress by mouse wheel, although there are requests for this feature from 15y ago????
This is why I abstain from using it to this day.
WHY CANT WE?????

Hi and welcome to the forum!
It has been implemented in LibreOffice (even if less cleverly than MS Office).

hey, first of all thanks for a quick response.
But what do you mean by "less cleverly"? How can you screw that up, its one wheel that rolls in 2 directions.
Is this uber feature patented by Microsoft or something why nobody is allowed to replicate it exactly the same way?

Using OpenOffice 4.1.15 on linux Xubuntu 22.04.6 I can, using mouse wheel, scroll through the slide selection in the Slide pane while creating or editing a Presentation. When presenting, the scroll wheel allows the elements of a slide to appear sequentially, and also to advance to the next slide, or return to the previous slide.
I am using an Elecom EX-G wifi trackball on the Xubuntu system; format of my files is .odp

In PowerPoint if there is no object outside the slide and the slide is fully shown, then mouse scrolling leads immediately to the next slide, centering it on the screen.
In LO, instead of switching immediately to the next slide, it will first scroll that slide until some point (going upward) then switch to the next slide that will appear partially at the bottom of the screen. To show it in full, more scrolling is needed. Like it would do if it were a Writer document (with continuous scrolling).
Thus, what is very straightforward in MS PP requires more mouse scrolling in LO. But it does the job in the end. I agree, it is a must have in edit mode. We may have been accustomed to that behavior by MS PP but I never got used to the need of moving with the arrow keys in AOO (since I'm not a heavy user of Impress, I could put up with that nonetheless).

ok I guess its time to spend money on MS Office. I hate it when there is a scrollbar in the main window and slides won't page on mousewheel up/down. Thanks @all for the information.

Nevertheless, I tag the topic as solved since there is a fix with LO. Even if it requires more scroll than PowerPoint.
