[Solved] Chreate labels with mail merge

Post by rachelb »

Happy Holidays.
I would like to print labels via the OO wizard using a OO" 2017 addresses" dbase. The wizard provides only one file "Bibliography" to choose from. I cannot find any way to browse throughout my files to be able to select my other dbase files. I have not built the Bibliography file myself and believe it came with OO.
Please tell me how to escape this apparent default path.
Thanks very much.

First of all, make sure that your files names end with .dbf but not .DBF.
menu:File>New>Database...
[X] Connect to existing database
Type: dBase
Point to the directory where your dBase is stored. dBase is a database made of dbf files in a directory.
[X] Register your database
Save your database document.
Nothing has been imported, copied, converted. All your data remain in the dBase file(s) exposed by Base to other office documents.

Please always search the forum before posting a query as the same questions (like yours!) get asked again and again and again and again ... see labels

See Re: Mail merge from spreadsheet to labels template. See also Chapter 11 - Using Mail Merge in the Writer Manual.

As a new poster you will find much useful information in the Writer FAQ, the Writer Tutorials, the up to date Writer guide and the Writer Manual. When a pop-up window opens, click the Help button for extensive help on that function - it is often more comprehensive than the manual.

If your problem is solved please view your first post in this thread and click the Edit button (top right in the post) and add [Solved] in front of the subject.

Remember: Always save your Writer files as .odt files. - see here for the many reasons why.
