[Solved] Cursor not there to edit a slide

When I open Draw, there is no blinking cursor in the top left corner. I clicked in the slide area and still did not get it. Seems to me like Draw is unusable.

You need to add an element, from the choices at the bottom of the window. Draw is not like Writer where you just start typing in the document.

OK thanks. I thought Draw could be used for typing text without graphics.

If you need to do something like that - say preparing note cards - use Impress.

Writer, Draw, Calc ; The name of each application might give you a hint about what to expect...

Actually, you can insert "pure text" objects in Draw. Click the T tool (usually in the bottom toolbar), then click somewhere on the page to start typing (will not break the line at page edge) or drag across a range to define a text area (will break lines - word wrap - at area boundary). There you have your blinking cursor.

There are tools to work with those text objects in graphical context (rotate, skew, follow path), but not the powerful "structured text" handling you find in Writer.
