[Solved] How to insert subchapter name (Heading 2) in header

Post by DavideAndrea »

I am writing a technical book.
On the left side header, I inserted the page number and the chapter name; no problem.
But on the right side header, I need to insert the name of the sub-chapter (Heading 2). How do I do that?

For example, if page 41 contains the "1.3 Resources" subchapter of the "Introduction" chapter, I'd like to see this

Code: Select all

(left edge)|40 1 Introduction|(spine)| 1.3 Resources 41|(right edge)
Thanks.

Try /Insert /Fields /Other : Document tab, Type: "Chapter", Format "Chapter name" and set level to "2"

This may or may not show the value in the header on the actual first page of the Chapter; I cannot remember. In my case I use a special "Chapter Page" Page style, where the Heading 2 line is dominant on the page and does not need to be repeated in a Page Header.

Ah! That's the part I missed. Thanks! That did it.
