After having reviewed a page, for example Main_TheExample, we should
- invoke What links here for the page from the toolbox on the left
- in the pages listed change all links from Main_TheExample to TheExample
- move the reviewed page to a name without the Main_ prefix, TheExample, for help see Meta-Wiki Moving a page
This sounds like much work, but I think it is worth the effort, nobody wants Main_... everywhere.. and there aren't that many pages we'll have to convert, most are the old user pages, to be removed anyway, I guess.
Objections, anyone?

redirect from old name to new name after move
I agree that you are describing the correct steps.
User:Haui went this route for the SVG files.
Just a little note:
You are probably aware that mediawiki places a redirect from the old name to the new name after a move.

Yes, I'm fully aware of that, I just thought we could start with a clean environment. Of course one doesn't want to change several dozens of places.. but for the OpenOffice page it was just copying content of 4 or 5 pages into a capable editor not messing around with line layout and do search&replace and paste back to the Wiki page. Just a few minutes of work. And doesn't display a "redirected from Main_OpenOffice" at the end :-)
