File Menu

You can create a new Presentation by clicking File and New and selecting Presentation, which will open the Presentation Wizard. This can be done from within any program in the OpenOffice suite.

Presentation Wizard

When you open Impress, the Presentation Wizard will appear. The wizard allows you to create an ‘Empty presentation’, create a presentation from a template or open an existing presentation. The wizard displays a preview of your selection on the right. Creating a new presentation and pressing Next will allow you to select the slide design, transitions and descriptions. Selecting ‘Open existing presentation’ and clicking Open will open the File Explorer for you to select your presentation file.
