OpenOffice.org HackFest 2010 Topics
Concrete Hacks
Please add your ideas and topics you'd like to work on or mentor during the hackfest. Issues and/or features to be worked on should either be doable within two days, or at least could be given enough spin to be completed within a reasonable time and amount of effort after the hackfest. If available add links to the corresponding issue and possibly UX or other feature specifications.
Note that this is not an agenda and does not involve any schedule, we're "planning" more in an unConference style, so about anything may go once the hackfest started. However, getting prepared for some tasks isn't bad either..

l10ntools | Replace ByteStrings | Remove tools dependency and get rid of the deprecated ByteString class. You can observe ongoing development via my identi.ca-Account or check the toolsfixes CWS once in a while. | Issue 115441 | Ivo Hinkelmann | Simon Wilper |
Calc | Fill operations should not touch filtered rows | A long outstanding issue that if solved would ease many people's itches.. A sketch of possible behavior is available at Calc/Drafts/Issue_33851#Fill_cells and Calc/Drafts/Issue_33851#Fill_series |
Issue 89232 | Eike Rathke [er] | Nehemiya MAMAN KAKALE Wolfgang Pechlaner {and you} ;-) |
Writer | Unittests | How one creates unittests in the rather tightly coupled writer. | - | Bjoern Michaelsen [b_michaelsen] | Nehemiya MAMAN KAKALE {and you} {and you} ;-) |
solenv | gbuild | The new GNU make based build system by the Build Environment Effort. | - | Bjoern Michaelsen [b_michaelsen] | {you} {and you} {and you} ;-) |
Chart | implement manually resizing legend | A long outstanding feature request with up to now 116 votes. I have looked in ODF spec in the mean time. It seems that there is no attribute width or height for a legend. So let the user choose the size can only be saved to file format using workarounds. Is that right? If yes, it would not be suitable for our weekend. iha: It is right that those attributes are not available so far in ODF, but this issue is really a pain for the users. |
Issue 28670 | Ingrid Halama [iha] | Regina {and you} ;-) |
Framework | Implement brackets for negative numbers so, that it is in the given list. | This is one of the number formatting issues. Perhaps it can be used to get a start to understand number formatting. | Issue 15756 | Eike Rathke [er] | Regina |
unotools | Templatable uno-skeletonmaker | The uno-skeletonmaker is only able to generate Java and C++ and adding a new language or extending it quite painful. The idea is to finish the effort started here to have equivalent features to the existing tool. | - | Cédric Bosdonnat [cedricbosdo] | {you} {and you} {and you} ;-) |
NoOOo generating .odt without OpenOffice |
This is a project I've had lying around for a while. The purpose is to generate OpenOffice text documents from a simple plaintext input language. The generated output is combined with a template that can be made in OpenOffice. I have a working prototype already supporting a lot of features. I want to work on polishing some of the rough edges so I can put an alpha version online. Interested people will be able to play with it in the form of a CGI. | pesco |
Mentors around
This is a list of hackers around, that are able to cover/mentor certain subject areas in the code base - if you have specific ideas/plans, poke them if they can help you with that.
